December 13th

The U16's lost 0-6 at Birbeck against Watling FC. The Dragons were greatly diminished with only 11 fit, available players but nevertheless managed to dominate the first 20 minutes but only had a disallowed goal to show for it. Watling scored 2 goals at the end of the first half to lead 2-0 up at the break. The Dragons knew how important the next goal would be and came out fighting in the second half to dominate the opening 20 minutes but once again could not score. Watling then made 4 substitutions and that had a huge impact on the Dragons depleted squad. The surge ended up in 4 late goals being conceded to leave the score at 0-6.

The U16's drew 1-1 with Ealing Rangers at Birbeck. The Dragons and Rangers are old friends who have been sharing the vicissitudes of competitive football for many a season. It was 0-0 at half time having endured a rainstorm. Back on the pitch the Dragons went 1-0 up from a corner before Ealing equalized in dubious circumstances - their player ran into the Dragon's keeper, dislodged the ball and then swiped it in. Action replays showed clearly that the goal should have been disallowed. The Dragons responded vigorously hitting the bar and then the post before having a goal nullified for offside. It was cruel to be robbed of a win but seasoned observers could see an upwards only trajectory for the U16's who have weathered the storm.

The U16's lost 2-4 away to Headstone Manor, last year's Premiership champions and top of the table this year. The Dragons lead 1-0 and then 2-1 at halftime. The essential quality of the Dragons was beginning to show through but then the seemingly inevitable tiredness kicked in leading to mistakes and conceded goals. This was again a better performance as the Dragons created many chances and, whilst fit, were the better team. The Dragons confidence is slowly growing but will take a great leap forward at the next win.
